Don't leave your job interview preparation to the last minute

Job Interview Tips

Have you missed out on a job because you have left your job interview preparation too late?

Do you send off your job application and then forget about it?

Do you wait until you hear that you have an interview before starting your preparation?  Then run out of time to fully prepare for the job interview. End up stressed and unfocussed on your way to the job interview? Don't put yourself into that position! Give yourself enough time to prepare for that potential job interview, do some early preparation so that if you only get 1 or 2 days notice you will be fully prepared. When you have emailed your application spend an extra hour to do your additional research and collect the information you will need to prepare for the job interview. This will save you a lot of time and stress later. While all the information is fresh in your mind;

  • Create a folder for the company and put in a copy of the advert, the information package,  copy of your application and covering letter. (NB this is very important as once applications close you will be unable to access this information).
  • Read up the website and cut and paste the information you will need for interview preparation for example their products/services, markets goals and any anticipated changes.
  • Do an internet search to see if they have been in the news and collect the articles, the information will give you a clear insight into the organisation.
  • Match your skills and experience to the requirements of the role - this will give a clear picture of how close your skills and experience match their specifications.

Do this for each application When you get a call from the employer or recruiter it will be so much easier to prepare and no need panic. For more information or to ask any questions please contact Deborah Barit on info@impressiveinterviews.com.au or ring (02) 9331 1853 mobile 0412 007 682.
