Brisbane Master Class Medical Specialty Interview Training

Are you planning to prepare for the Medical Specialty Selection interview? Then now is the time to start. Each year it becomes more competitive so don't leave it until you know if you have an interview to start preparing. There will be little time after the interviews are announced to prepare. The selection interview is the decider, your interview performance will make the difference between getting in or missing out on your chosen specialty.
This Master Class will provide you with the understanding, structure and techniques to prepare for that selection interview.
All medical specialties are very competitive and while your application will get you to the interview, only your performance at the specialty selection interview will get you into the training program.

The small group training (6) is specifically designed for doctors seeking specialty entry. The program covers all aspects of interview preparation.
Part 1
Learn to think like the interview panel
Understand the specialty culture and how this influences the selection panel decisions
Learn to think laterally - an essential skill for specialty interviews
Learn to identify and structure answers for different styles of questions, open, behavioural, scenario/situational.
Select appropriate examples to demonstrate your skills, knowledge and experience
Part 2
Using video, each participant will have the opportunity to select and practice their interview questions, The questions provided will be specialty specific for each participant. You can also bring your own questions to practice.
Each participant will then have the opportunity to watch their interview and to hear and see how the interview panel sees them.
Feedback on each interview will be provided. What worked and what areas need improvement. The assessment will be based on content, language and body language.
Using video is a very valuable part of preparing for the selection interview.
NB Not suitable for ENT candidates.

About Deborah Barit
Deborah Barit is a Sydney based author, trainer, consultant and Director of Impressive Interviews who specialises in training individuals and groups for job interviews. She has successfully placed clients from professions as diverse as health, law, IT, senior management and the arts in positions of their choice. For the last 15 years she has specialised in training doctors for medical specialty selection interviews and more recently consultants for senior roles.
Prior to this, her career has included selection and recruitment both in Australia and overseas, labour market research, evaluation of government-funded programs and working with disability employment services. She holds a Bachelor of Economics Degree from the University of Sydney and a Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations form UTS.
